Uninterrupted panoramic views from Okemo Fire Tower.
Perched high atop Ludlow Mountain (widely known as Okemo Mountain), the historic Okemo Fire Tower offers one of the most rewarding views in Vermont. Originally constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, this impressive steel tower actively guarded the surrounding woodlands until around 1970. Today, the fully restored structure is open to hikers, where climbing to the unlocked cab delivers breathtaking, unobstructed 360-degree panoramas of the Green Mountains.
The journey begins off Route 103 near Station Road and the active railroad tracks, where a recently expanded overflow lot doubles the parking capacity. As the peak’s only dedicated footpath, the Healdville Trail provides a peaceful ascent, operating entirely separate from the eastern slopes' bustling patchwork of ski runs and chairlifts.

Marked with clear blue blazes, the Healdville Trail ascends the northern flank at a steady, enjoyable grade free of steep pitches or rough scrambles. While grand vistas are saved for the grand finale at the summit, the route delights along the way with exceptionally lush, serene forest scenery.
For those seeking a gentler approach, Mountain Road provides free vehicle access during the summer months, leaving just a short, easy stroll to reach the summit and experience the incredible tower views.

Verdant Healdville Trail stays moderate throughout.
