Instructions
A hiker stands on a rocky outcrop overlooking a sprawling forested valley, with distant blue mountains and glimmering bodies of water beneath a clear sky dotted with clouds. The hiker wears a red shirt, dark pants, a cap, and a backpack, conveying a sense of exploration and solitude in nature.
Just north of New Hampshire’s Lake Winnipesaukee, the Ossipee Range is a curious, circular geological formation that appears especially striking when viewed from above on a topographic map. It is in fact a ring dike complex - a circular structure formed by ancient volcanic activity.

The ten peaks chosen for their elevation and impressive views, make up the Ossipee 10 Challenge and are listed below. Our Trailspotting Mack Pack provides a single smartphone download for all of these peaks, with trail reviews and route nagivation. They're free for personal use and even work when you're offline.

2,990 ft Mount Shaw
2,782 ft Faraway Mountain
2,803 ft Black Snout
2,582 ft Mount Roberts
2,388 ft Flagg Mountain
2,204 ft Turtleback Mountain
2,062 ft Tate Mountain
1,845 ft Bayle Mountain
1,801 ft Bald Knob
1,440 ft Sentinel Mountain

The routes included in our Map Pack show our preferred routes, but others are also sometimes available. For example, you could add Flagg Mountain to your Mount Shaw hike if you wanted to avoid starting a hike by the summer camp at Dan Hole Pond, and you could pick up the easternmost Sentinel Mountain from a separate trail. We include more information on these options in our more detailed trail reviews.
