A multi-tiered waterfall flows through a dense forest, surrounded by moss-covered rocks and lush green foliage. Sunlight filters through the trees, casting dappled light across the water and vegetation
Our attempt at photograph the whole of the 219 foot falls.

Following in the footsteps of Vermont's industrial past, we find ourselves on the path carved out by a former logging railroad line that conveniently creates a gradual slope leading in the direction of the dramatic 219 foot tall Lye Brook Falls waterfall.

After checking the water level in the creek to reassure ourselves that the waterfall will be flowing, we head out along the blue-blazed trail. Low rocks litter the path all the way to the falls, which we've classified as moderate, though is on the easy side of the scale. You may encounter occasional mud, but the only other obstacle on this trail is a single small creek crossing.

Aside from the views of the creek that are visible if you step away from the trail, close to the trailhead, there are few features along the 2.2 mile route. However, the waterfall payoff is worth the trek for the 219 foot Lye Brook Falls, which is listed as the fourth tallest in the state, according to the World Waterfall Database.

The end of the trail offers several opportunities to peek at the cascade, though only the bottom one provides a full view of the waterfall. The green summer vegetation provides a scenic setting, though frequently interrupts the view if you're looking for the best way to photograph the falls. Take care on the rocks below the falls, and navigating around the vantage points as they can be somewhat slippery.

The trailhead is located at the end of a short unpaved road and offers numerous free parking spots. Once full, visitors commonly park along one side of the road, but be aware of any posted parking restriction signs. There are no restrooms or other facilities at the trailhead.
