Friendly and fun yet challenging, the North Tahoe resort of Mt. Rose is a great alternative to the mega-resorts elsewhere around the lake. The amenities on the mountain might leave something to be desired, but if you're the type of skier who prefers to be on the slopes all day rather than propping up the bar then you won't be disappointed.

Great views and great skiing abound from all parts of the mountain, and if you're dauntless veteran skier you'll want to check out the craziness of 'The Chutes', but be sure to double-check your medical coverage before tackling it!
