Donner Ski Ranch is among the smallest of the Tahoe ski parks, it features short runs, slow lifts and very few luxuries and resources. Despite all this the park has been around since 1937.

So what’s to stop you crossing the road to the neighboring Sugar Bowl resort? If you’re an intermediate going-on expert slider then the answer is probably “nothing”, but if you’re still working up your skill & confidence on the green and blue slopes then Donner might be all you need.

Tickets are often half the cost of larger resorts, neither the lifts nor the runs are crowded, and slow lifts can actually be a boon – giving you time to get your breath back and compose yourself for the next run of the day.
